CONGRATS TO SIRISHA REHABILITATION CENTER FOR NATIONAL AWARD 2014

Happy to being to you all that the Founder of Sirisha Rehabilitation Center has been selected for the SPANDAN National Award - 2014 of the National Trust, New Delhi. 

He has received the same from the hands of  Hon Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi on 10th Sept 2014. This is the recognition for the parent who transformed his limitations of daughter having mental retardation as a strength to start service organization for providing training and rehabilitation to several such children. 

It has just completed its FIRST DECADE of its service journey and the Award is fitting recognition for the same.

MEET OF OLD STUDENTS OF CEG GEOPHYSICS ON 3TH SEPT 2014

The Alumni of Center of Exploration Geophysics (CEG), Osmania University, Hyderabad have met an auspicious day of Teacher's Day on 5th September in the Department.

It was the opportunity for all the members to respect the teachers with memories. The Teacher for Teachers Prof. VLS Bhimasankaram  has presided over the function and smoothly conducted the memorable of honoring several teachers. 

With several messages and suggestions, the event came to end to move forward to regain the glory of GEOPHYSICS with better connectivity with the industry for need based opportunity and to service the Globe with significant contribution.

ABSTRACT

          It is the fact that Senior Citizens are ‘retired’ but not ‘tired’. They are well qualified / knowledgeable, experienced, matured, systemized, traditionalized, problem solver, having values & ethics, responsible, participative, accountable and transparent. This group is more concerned for the social change as change agents with better sustainability and quality. Then the question arises that why such group should not be used? and in what ways? which are very much relevant to address the present social challenges as an opportunity. The present Society whether it is urban or rural, do have several challenges covering health, education, agriculture, pollution, water, urbanization, global warming, marginalization, isolation, climate change, ineffective service delivery systems, corruption, violence, and other consequences which finally affects the health & wealth of the people & environment. Many of such challenges can be either resolved or minimized by deploying the senior citizens as valued human resources suitably. National policies mostly look as welfare model. In the process of moving from welfare model to developmental or empowerment model with the key & effective role of Government (GO) as well as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) helps to make senior citizens as part of the inclusive community with better sustainability and quality of life (QOL). The data reflects the positive attitude of the group towards the developmental model with specific needs and opportunities so that several challenges of the society can be transformed into strengths with better connectivity with the younger generations which certainly moves towards sustainable development with improved quality of life.

ABSTRACT

          Disability is the barrier for development which works as cause and consequence of each other which further deepens the poverty. The disability population is quite high and alarming the stakeholders for developing effective strategies and interventions for identification, rehabilitation including prevention. This further marginalizes them with isolation and invisible. At this stage the concerns of PWDs, and their parents that ‘nothing about us without us?’ and ‘what will happen to the child after us?’ respectively needs better solution with ethics and values. CSOs are the key players in coordinating the Government, PWDs, Parents, Siblings and other departments for reaching the groups both quantitatively and qualitatively with effective service delivery systems. The study made with CSOs, Parents, Siblings, & PWDs each 15 samples with developed questionnaires has clearly reflected that they are very much committed for the cause of disability rehabilitation including prevention. The study has opened scope for detailed research and to address the issues of disability with innovative and creative problem solving solutions with better sustainability and quality.

ABSTRACT

      Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) do play key role in coordinating with the Government, Resources and People for its effective reach with better utilization. Availability of the resources in our Nation is not the problem, but it limits in creating accessibility and affordability with need based service delivery channels (SDCs) matching to the needs, skills and vulnerabilities of the people. The business oriented development and its non-distribution& non-uniformity over the geography and people has resulted for poverty, inequality, marginalization, conflicts, rivalry, violence, social disharmony, reduced values, poor sustainability and lowered quality of life (QOL). Exploitation of natural resources on the name of ‘development’ has ended with hazards, disasters and global warming and further affected the health & wealth of the People & Environment. What happened / happening in the Himalayan region Uttarakhand is the clear cut reflection of deviations from the need based or people oriented development. Then several questions arise that whether development should be stopped or to be continued? Who should invest the resources? What should be the prime motto of the development? What are the modalities? Who can be the best people or institutes to moderate? What are the systems to be followed? What shall be code of Ethics and Values? The search for better solution ends at the CSOs which are very near to the people with better understanding of their needs, challenges and vulnerabilities. At this stage, CSOs having greater responsibility, needs to have a set of code of conduct with values which will drive to improve their Governance with improved accountability and transparency. In this direction, models have been developed and adopted with the selected CSOs working in the State of Andhra Pradesh on various issues of Community Development. The processes of assessment, training and development of CSOs with participatory tools have rustled for their recognition with better brand value and further to protect the health & wealth of the People and Environment. The developed models and suggested code of conduct are well accepted and justified to move forward with other CSOs.

Planned various projects for Chetana Foundation, an NGO working for the empowerment of PWIDDs and the details are as follows:

• Special School
• Vocational Training & 
• Community Based Rehabilitation. 

In addition, it is continuing its efforts to search for the suitable accommodation for starting Residential Facilities so the parents can avail such facilities and get relief and make way for their children to start leading independent living. This process goes on a long way to get solution for their question of "what will happen to the child after us?"
