ABSTRACT

Population, Resources and Development are the cause and consequence of each other. Increase in population puts more demand for the resources and services and affects the sustainability of the development. The service delivery systems do influence the distribution of resources over the region and people. The increase in population from 2001 to 2011 is much significant and do not expect corresponding increase in resources in fact they get reduced both quantitatively and qualitatively. The population density is much higher compared to that of average population density of world. The shortage in resources, mad rush towards business oriented development, and luxury living affects the availability Vs demand Vs supply of resources and higher wastage results for several challenges with marginalization and isolation.  The search for better solutions emerged for several opportunities which work for healthy development of the people and environments with better ownership to the local people and communities. The community initiatives and best practices adopted have resulted for better outputs and are simple, replicable, scalable and sustainable matching to the dynamics of the given environment.

Key Words: Population, Resources, Development, Opportunities, Access, Sustainability, Inclusion, Environments.

Statement of the Problem

The increase in population and shift towards business oriented development demands more resources, services and supports which affects the mission of FOOD for ALL, ACCESS for ALL with poor Quality of Life.

Recommendations

Based on need and dynamics of the population, resources and development with the targets of the Nation, recommendations made includes:

  1. Support for Mapping and development of data base with better access with the support of tools & technologies.
  2. Encourage Students for Project and Research works in association with the community.
  3. Efforts should be made to control the population with healthy population density with optimization of resources and development.
  4. Encourage Non Governmental Organizations to work with the Government and Private on partnership basis for better sharing and distribution of benefits of development over the region and people.
  5. Encourage for social auditing with better participation, accountability, responsibility & transparency with ownership.

PAPER PUBLISHED ON "GLOBAL WARMING – OPPORTUNITIES FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS FOR HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS"

Dear All

The process of publishing paper in National and International Journal has been continued and recently published paper on "GLOBAL WARMING – OPPORTUNITIES FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS FOR HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS" in Asian Journal of Professional Ethics & Management

The abstract and other salient features have been pasted below as:
......................................................................................................
ABSTRACT

The nature has given resources and opportunities to the people to live happily within the healthy environments. The shift towards business orientated development, and rush to luxury life has given scope to the smaller group to show dominance on the larger population. The processes of liberalization, privatization and globalization have added its share in widening the gap between the rich and poor with vulnerabilities for hazards and disasters. The natural and manmade activities with the dominance of the later have affected the health and wealth of the people and environment. The cumulative impact of all such unhealthy causes and consequences resulted for the raise in the temperature which is known as global warming and resulted as climate change. Global warming can be seen by way of indicators which are visible, measureable and observable. The SWOT of Global Warming and Climate Change reflects several challenges which end up with crises for resources, poor development, poor quality and unhealthy environments. Under these circumstances, the mission Food Security, Accessible India Campaign, and other components of Dream India or vision -2022 and achievement of Sustainable Developmental Goals do have some limitations in reaching the targeted groups both quantitatively and qualitatively. On the other side of the same coin, several gates were opened as opportunities to achieve development with better sustainability and quality where everyone will be the contributing member of the inclusive and empowered environments at all levels. With the support of Government and Private, Civil Society Organizations do play a key role on partnership basis. The community strategies and initiatives are simple and sustainable with better scaling and replication.

Key Words: Global Warming, Climate Change, Environments, Sustainable Development, Quality of Life.

Statement of the Problem

The business oriented developments having mismatch to the needs of the people have resulted for pollution resulting for present unhealthy situation of Global Warming.

Recommendations

Keeping the priority, initiatives, role of CSOs and significance of the study, recommendations made includes:

1)   To create awareness on healthy values, habits and initiatives for the students, youth, senior citizens and stakeholders.
2)      To organize trainings, workshops, seminars and other programmes for various groups.
3)     To encourage students and youth to take up research activities with need based documentation and dissemination with better access.

EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN WITH DISABILITES – AN INCLUSIVE MODEL

ABSTRACT

Women and Children are the priority group and need to be empowered for their development including family, community and Nation at large. This certainly resolves several challenges of these groups like: gender inequality, bias, violence, crime, marginalization, isolation and any other unhealthy practices. Among the Women and Children, the one having disability and/or associated with disabilities in the family are the most vulnerable and gets low priority including stigma attached.  These groups’ needs should be seen as two faces of the same coin having training and rehabilitation as an empowerment on one side and prevention on the other side. The Training and Rehabilitation Model of Empowerment works with several stages starting from the stage of early identification to empowerment both socially and economically with need based and rights based strategies and interventions with innovation and creativity. These groups’ development gains priority in all the missions of Dream India New India and Global Sustainable Developmental Goals with focus on community based initiatives with availability, accessibility& affordability. NGOs do play a key role in reaching the targeted groups both quantitatively and qualitatively with dominance of bottom up approaches with ownership. The initiatives are need based and impact created in the lives of the targeted group is significant and measurable with improved quality of life. The strategies and initiatives are simple, flexible, scalable, replicable and sustainable matching to the dynamics of the given environment.

Key words: Women & Children, Isolation, Training, Rehabilitation, Partnership, Empowerment, Sustainability, Inclusion.

PUBLICATION OF PAPER: CONCERNS OF PARENTS OF PWIDDs – A MODEL OF EMPOWERMENT FOR INCLUSION

Dear All

The processes of sharing and disseminating through various forums in general and publication in Journals in particular have been continued. In this process another paper has been published in the UGC approved national Journal known as DESH VIKAS. Some of the details of the same paper were presented below as:

CONCERNS OF PARENTS OF PWIDDs – A MODEL OF
EMPOWERMENT FOR INCLUSION

ABSTRACT

Parents of the children with special needs are the most affected and worried about their child’s growth, development and future. Among the disability population, Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities are the most marginalized including isolation from the community. Due to various reasons the disability population is facing several challenges and affects the dynamics of the family, community and the Nation. The parents are more depressed in general and particularly in the rural villages and forced to search for better alternatives to cater the needs of their children. The SWOT analysis reflects several challenges of parents and opportunities as a solution with empowerment. Among the challenges, parents are more concerned with “what will happen to the child after us?” At the same time, several opportunities exist to transform these challenges into strengths with matching solutions to develop accessible, empowered, healthy and inclusive environments and thus to enhance the quality of life of the group. Parents have got specific roles to play in the whole process of empowering PWIDDs and to be the role models for other to follow. The Parents Associations and CSOs are working for PWIDDs with the support and guidance of Government. The suggested Integrated Home will work for the better living of PWIDDs and Senior Citizens with better connectivity and support under a single roof. The suggested strategies and interventions are simple, replicable, scalable, and sustainable matching to the dynamics of the given environment.

Key Words: Vulnerability, Isolation, Training, Rehabilitation, Empowerment, Inclusion, Sustainability, Quality of Life.

Statement of the Problem

The parents of the Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PWIDDs) are more worried about their child’s development, better living and to get a solution for their concern that “what will happen to the child after us?”

Parents / PWIDDs: Parents are more worried with the concern that “what will happen to the child after us?” and look for better home to stay during their life and even when they are no more. In majority of the cases PWIDDs needs the attention, affection and support of elder persons who can stay with them. Managing home with PWIDDs alone will have several challenges and filling such gaps is very problematic.

Senior Citizens / Homeless: On the other side, the elder persons who are homeless or isolated from the family members (both male and female), and who are with home but always feel isolated look for some younger people to stay and share like an extended family.

 Recommendations

The concerns of the Parents and PWIDDs are more vulnerable and the recommendations suggested include:

1.  To strengthen PAs and CSOs working for PWIDDs with guidance, mentorship, and matching resources.
2.    To create spaces for PWIDDs at all the levels with effective service delivery systems with accessible technological connectivity.
3.   To develop human resources in special education with priority for PAs and CSOs to run the courses / programmes.
4.      To support PWIDDs for better employment and income generation programmes including micro entrepreneurship.
5.  To develop integrated homes by PAs and CSOs with the support and guidance of Government (Central and State).
