Dear All

In continuation,we do face several challenges and the wise thing is to tackle it before allowing it to become a conflict.

The issue in Bombay is "pavement takeovers in Mumbai" as reported & contacted by Karmayog. They also sought matching solutions to tackle pavement takeover in Mumbai. I made an analysis and suggestions and were furnished below for wide circulation and to get more reflections as:

Dear Karamayog

You have raised the most crucial issue. The scenario is very common in all our cities an towns. The problem is serious and need to be addressed immediately as this particular challenges is going to the cause for several consequences covering: traffic issue, sanitation issue, pollution issue, rights issue.

Now the question is whom to approach and who will approach. In the democratic country every one take the responsibility and at the same time everyone can also escape. I am with the civil societies / communities in addressing several such challenges.

My reflections goes like this:

@ The first reaction is expected from the colony or society in which this part of
the issue belongs.

@ Media can raise this issue. If they come directly then it is OK. Other wise some
one form the colony should call them. TV9 is very active in this direction.

@ Civil Society Organizations / NGOs / CBOs working on the eradication of poverty,
street children / people, human rights, water and sanitation, environment
empowerment, livelihood activities, and other concern can provide solution for
these people.

@ Police can also handle the issue.

... like this, any one can make initiation. But the fact is different. People are busy and never look towards others in the present mechanical life. Human values are going down and no value for the human. It is the money which has got value and making the people to dance or mold or run. This what we are seeing in the papers and tv.

In spite of all these barriers / limitations, still, the raised problem can be solved with sustainable solutions. Many foundations, trusts, funding agencies, industries, corporate in addition to government do spend lot of money either directly or through NGOs for solving several such social issues.

Any NGO can come forward to raise the issue for which they can get support from several corners / department. If this has taken as water and sanitation issue, then Rural Development department of state and central under their Total sanitation Campaign (TSC), UNDP, UNICEF, ... can support both technically and financially.

Hope this information helps you to initiate the issue and i will be happy to formulate this into project.

Looking forward for better networking to reach the unreached with sustainable solutions and thus making them to lead better living..

with thanks
