VISIT TO SREES ORGANIZATION

Dear All

In continuation, the technology has connected with Self Rural Empowerment & Educational Services Organization (SREES) situated in Krishna District of AP. The visit during the month of April helped to understand its SWOT and to prepare an action plan. It works with innovative and creative strategies for empowering the rural youth and further to create livelihoods with sustainability and quality of life. In has got good resources and there exist lot of demand as the rural youth in general and particularly the marginalized groups have got limited opportunities while creating their livelihoods. 

Under these circumstance, SREES has created platform for all such groups to get trained in various trades based on their skills and market opportunities.  It has well connected with the stakeholders and got appreciations with acceptance for creating better linkages with the employers.

The need to to use to technologies in putting the things in order with better connectivity with the stakeholders all over the globe. It is looking forward to move towards the transformation of right based strategies & interventions matching to the needs, skills & vulnerability of the targeted groups. 

The whole process is expected to lead towards the empowerment of the targeted groups with better livelihood opportunities so that it leads for their better living with sustainability and quality of life.

I will be associating with this organization and more will be posted.

VISIT TO STAR YOUTH ASSOCIATION

Dear All

The technology has connected the me with the Star Youth Association (SYA) an NGO situated at Velugodu of Kurnool Dist.AP. It has resulted to visit this organization during March 2012 and seen it at grass root level. It is working in parts of Anantapur and Kurnool Dist. of AP. It helped me along with its team to understand what it is as SWOT which helped us to make an action plan based on the vision of the Organization and needs of the community. I will be posting more and more on this Org so that it will be well connected with the stakeholders for the catering the needs of the targeted groups with better sustainability and quality of life.

NEW POVERTY ESTIMATES SCRAPPED

In continuation to the postings made on the above subject, the comments made on the article published in Down to Earth, 15th April 2012 have been pasted below as:

Congratulations to all the readers and respondents who made significant contribution in raising the reality in respect of the new poverty estimates (DTE, 15th April 2012: New Poverty Estimates Scrapped). It clearly shows that the new poverty estimates are not matching to the ground reality with wide gap between the Lab - Land models.

Having this experience as back ground the new committee should concentrate on the following points as:

* In addition to the consumption in terms of calories, focus on other needs like: health, water, education, shelter, and other basic needs.

* Move with open mindedness rather than some pre-conceived ideas or estimates or results,

* The focus should be towards the people's development rather than political approaches or gains,

* Aim should be towards the "GARIBHI HATAVO" rather than "GARIGHONKO HATAVO"

* Allow the people to participate in the whole process of estimates

* Prepare the committee to stay with the people rather than distance mode estimates

Hope that the estimates of poverty should not be too much complicated as it has to refelct the reality of the people's needs only. Instead it has become more complicated with several committees which might have got limited scope in reaching the people at their community itself.

Finally the Committee estimates of the people at community will help to resolve the present confusion.

VISIT TO STAR YOUTH ASSOCIATION AT VELUGODU AP.

Dear All

In continuation to the networking, i have been connected with SYA. This e-connectivity has given an opportunity of  visiting the working areas of SYA covering parts of Kurnool and Anantapur Districts on 19th and 20th March 2012. It has helped to understand the SWOT of SYA and the real challenges of the people. The peoples attitude is positive and looking for need based support for independent living with better sustainability and quality of life. 

SYA is doing commendable job in the selected areas and sector and hoping to move forward with need based strategies and interventions as an empowerment model. Hope, this connectivity will lead for longer association in developing the capacities of the people with right based models involving multisectoral and multidisciplinary with single window system.

Some of the significant challenges includes:  water, health, disability, hiv/aids, agriculture, environmental changes, connectivity, employment, livelihoods, networking, linkages. 

In spite of all these challenges, still there exists better scope to transform them into strengths with need based innovative and creative strategies and interventions. 

I will be posting more about the models which are going to be developed and adopted for the holistic development of the community by the community.
