SOL Vs QOL – OPPORTUNITIES FOR INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT

Living of the people has become more complicated with vulnerabilities for hazards and disasters which affected their health and wealth along with the environment. Among several reasons, wealth oriented development with shift towards standard of living has exploited the resources leaving larger population to suffer even for human critical needs. The standard of living is wealth and object oriented and results for several challenges which are unethical and unhealthy. On the other side, quality of life which is people oriented and socially well being has got several opportunities to minimize the challenges of standard of living.  The SWOT Analysis of standard of living and quality of life reflects several merits and demerits of each concept and process where the former is objective and later is subjective which indicates that the later one is more eco-friendly by protecting the health and wealth of the people and environment. This is the positive indication and allows the shift towards the quality of life which further ends with empowerment, sustainability and inclusive development, improved participation, accountability, responsibility and transparency. The effective and need based service delivery systems helps to reach the targeted groups with better harmony as one for all and all for one. The models are simple, flexible, and sustainable matching to the dynamics of the given environment.

RTI - ROLE OF CSOs FOR INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Lakshmi Narayana N.
Director, Geo Rehabilitation Centre
Hyderabad.

ABSTRACT
Access to information acts as a power to reach and get the services and supports with equality and dignity. This has to be seen as two sides of the same coin having Government on one side and People on the other side who needs to work with better connectivity and coordination. In view of poor access and mismatched service delivery systems, RTI came out as a weapon in the hands of People as well as Government for moving towards the development with better sustainability and quality. A SWOT analysis of RTI reflects that it has got some limitations and mostly confined to asking for information by the people which is time taking, unhealthy and unfriendly. At the same time, RTI insists for proactive disclosure of information which is better in all aspects but not followed by many. The resources like Water, Land, Minerals and others have got better access for investors who do business for business purpose leaving people and environment as the victims. Under these circumstances, the CSOs who work very near to the people have got several opportunities for the effective utilization of provisions of RTI. The initiatives made with selected CSOs have resulted for significant impact and the targeted groups could get the benefit of resources as an empowerment. The initiatives are simple, flexible, replicable, scalable and sustainable matching to the dynamics of the given environment.

Key Words: Information, Access, Accountable, Transparent, Sustainability, Development, Quality of Life.

ECO-FRIENDLY DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT

The products made for the survival of people for various purposes play key role in achieving the need based development with better sustainability and quality. At present, the customers raise several questions while receiving the products of domestic to agricultural to industrial use and mostly stand without answers or solutions. Among them the key issue is about the disposal of products including its container which results for several challenges affecting its sustainability and the health of people and environment. Much of the land is occupied for disposal yards and thus reduces the same causing pollution and other health issues. The product life cycle needs innovation with creativity for designing eco-friendly products with better adaptability in respect of use, reuse, recycle and disposal by balancing the inputs as well as the wastage at all levels. Use of plastics and fly ash to lay down roads stands better examples with innovation and creativity. The manufacturers on its specifications pack should add measures to dispose the same safely. The main stakeholders covering producers, suppliers, customers, community and CSOs can transform these challenges into opportunities so that need based products can be developed with effective supply chain system with better sustainability and quality which finally protects the health and wealth of the people and environment.

Key Words: Resources, Product, Disposal, Pollution, Sustainability, Eco-Friendly, Development.

ABSTRACT

Keywords: Natural Resources, Development, Exploitation, Vulnerabilities, Water, Power, Global Warming, Environment, Rehabilitation, Empowerment, Sustainability, Quality of Life.

The developmental model conceptualized by Dr Ambedkar is holistic and expected to maximize the sustainability or quality of life. This model has given priority for social development, economical development, individual development and environmental development with effective optimization. Over the period, deviation from this developmental model by giving priority to economical development has affected the health and wealth of the people and environment. The end result is what we all are facing “today’s crises” in majority of the domains. The SWOT analysis in the selected areas like water, land, minerals, power and global warming has helped to understand the challenges and possible opportunities to minimize the challenges with sustainable strategies / interventions. The initiations made in the selected areas with the aim of maximizing the SD or QOL have opened the gates to move forward with positive impact. In addition to the listed opportunities and initiatives, the study resulted for set of conclusions and recommendations for regaining the concept of Dr Ambedkar’s model and to state that “it is still relevant for the better utilization of natural resources and other developmental projects”. The SEIE model is simple, flexible, scalable, replicable and sustainable with maximization of Quality of Life so that our nation can move from ‘developing’ to ‘developed’ with improved independency.

RYTE RAJU – CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR
HEALTHY AND SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

ABSTRACT

Food is the essential need of the people and well linked up with poverty, growth and development. Farmers do play a role in making the agriculture as a healthy and attractive sector as majority of the people as well the Nation depends on it. The mission of poverty eradication works to provide Roti, Kapada and Makhan to all with better sustainability and quality. Food security has to be seen as two faces of the same coin having on one side with production and products of food grains and second side with its distribution. Farmers do play a key role in all these processes and are well known and recognized as Ryte Raju. Due to several unhealthy and unethical causes and consequences, agriculture has got low priority and thus farmers are facing several challenges with vulnerabilities from inputs support to marketing and thus results for low returns. Water and Power are the added disadvantages to put the farmers with poor production and productivity and further resulted for migration. At the same time, all such challenges have opened gates in the form of opportunities to make agriculture as healthy and attractive sector with better returns. The efficiency of technologies is the strength in the hands of farmers to develop profitable livelihoods with innovation and creativity. The suggested measures are simple, replicable, scalable and sustainable.

OPPORTUNITIES WITH STARTUPS FOR THE EMPOWERMENT OF PEOPLE – ROLE OF CSOs

Dear All

Please see the Abstract of the paper published recently as:
................................................................
The efforts of Government do have several limitations in reaching the people and to cater their needs with matching resources as a solution. The service delivery systems of Government are majorly dominated by the top down approaches and thus open the gates to the private institutions to work for inclusive growth with quality and sustainability. These institutions rather than supporting, affected the systems with more vulnerabilities as they started doing business. The SWOT Analysis of the service delivery systems working as a charity or welfare reflects several challenges which end up with unethical and unhealthy consequences affecting the health and health of the people and environment. The opportunities emerged as processes of empowerment works for better quality and sustainability. At this stage, startups emerged as an entrepreneurship with better access to the people covering food, health, water, sanitation, housing, education, agriculture, production, products, employment, livelihoods, power generation, networking, marketing, technological applications, resources mapping, service delivery, publication & dissemination and social security needs supports from Government and Private. The Civil Society Organizations do play key role in taking up majority of the startups as an empowerment of the people with better sustainability and improved quality of life in an accessible and inclusive environment on the basis of equality and dignity as a right. Suggested areas for startups are simple, flexible and sustainable and gains support at all levels.
