CLEAN & GREEN FOR ECO-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT

Dear All

It is the known fact that maintaining of CLEAN and GREEN Environment is the need of the hour to control the Global Warming / Climate Change and further to achieve sustainable development. It further helps our Nation to move from Developing to Developed with better sustainability and quality

In this connection, just see the picture captured by me from the rural part of Andhra Pradesh as:
It is really pleasantry to look, feel and tempt to touch to be with the nature.

Let us commit ourselves to maintain such clean and greenery at all levels. Let us start from our house it self. I will be posting more what we developed at our house.

Looking forward to have more such figures..

WITH WORLD CONGRESS ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Dear All

In continuation to the postings made on the need of creating better access for water both quantitatively and qualitatively, an research paper presented by me at the World Congress on Environmental Management (WCEM) organized by the Institute of Director (IOD) during June 2006 at Simla, H.P. It was on the interlinking of WATER - POVERTY - DISABILITY - DEVELOPMENT both for understanding and to suggest sustainable solutions in minimizing the present crises.

It has created creative thinking among the delegates and many shown their interest to support for its implementation at their respective Institute / Department / Village.

The photo view of the presentation made is shown below as:
More awareness, advocacy, orientation and trainings will be continued covering larger groups in general and particularly in the rural areas with priority on drought prone areas.

More postings will be made on this key area for minimizing the water crises and its consequences of poverty, disability and development with better sustainability.

WITH PARIVAARCCH, AP UNIT OF PARIVAAR

Dear All

As posted earlier, PARIVAARCCH is the AP unit of PARIVAAR, a National Federation of Parent's Associations working for the Persons with Mental Retardation and other associated disabilities. It is actively working for the advocacy, training and rights of these groups and got international repute. I am associated with this unit as Technical Adviser and the whole team is moving with better reach to its targeted groups.

We had its meet on 14th at Prerana Special School, Hyderabad and revived the situation which includes the programmes to be done i due course of time. The main concern is in the area of Advocacy, self help groups, legal guardianship, support decision making, trainings, workshops, seminars, data base, networking, and other needy activities / programmes suiting to the needs of the targeted groups. There is a need to work with Right to Information (RTI) and Right to Education (RTE) for better mainstreaming in the normal schools itself.

The photo view of the Hyderabad PARIVAARCCH team is shown below as:

TEAM OF PARIVAARCCH WITH THE SELF ADVOCATES (2- IN SITTING POSITION & 3-IN STANDING)
This reflects the improvement made in the self advocates (persons with mental retardation) to be pat of the programmes meant for their better inclusion.

In addition, this service journey needs to be continued to improve the service delivery systems with right based approaches and to reach the unreached.

The team is looking forward to get the support from all the departments and stakeholders in creating better access for services, supports, benefits and other needs as a RIGHT

I will be posting more about these activities on this blog for better sharing, reflection, support, networking and finally to be part of the developmental model as contributing member.

SPACES FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH

Dear All

It is the fact our Nation is struggling with several challenges from various groups, areas, and so on... which can be grouped into Internal and External.

As we do have limited control over the external factors, the focus should be more on the internal factors. It means everyone one of us should have space with better access.

The spaces were grouped into three as:

  • SOCIAL SPACE
  • ECOLOGICAL SPACE AND
  • ECONOMICAL SPACE.
It is shortly know as spaces of SEE. In all the three areas, there is a need based space for each and every one. But the real problem is the greedy which results for snatching of some one's space by others. This creates for unequal distribution and moves towards making GAPS.

This is the interesting area for making study and more will be posted in due course of time.

Looking forwrd...

with thanks

RTI WITH RTE

Dear All

In continuation, Right to Information (RTI) will be the powerful tool for the effective utilization of the Right to Education (RTE). I am going to be part of the RTE Seminar to be held in the month of October 2012.

It is the known fact that RTE insists for Free and Compulsory Education (FCE) and allotment of 25% seats in all unaided private school (except unaided minority schools) for children from underprivileged background.

Some of the challenges of RTE in the State of Andhra Pradesh include:

12 Lakh children are out of schools

• slow in implementation

• in spite of Supreme Court order, private schools response is very poor for allotting 25% of their seats for the children from underprivileged background

• Govt not ready to fund the studies of these children in private schools

• as per the GO, private schools should need to open gates for underprivileged children only after all the seats in neighbouring govt schools got filled

• this GO is the major limitation for the admissions and advantage for the private school to deny the admissions for this group of children

• some looks for these children as charity rather than their right

• poor monitoring of what the schools have been doing

• most of them feels RTE as a SSA

• no redress mechanism exists for parents to express their
   grievances

• no blue print of the planning is given to the schools

• poor awareness among the parents who should avail the benefits

• several other issues.

These are the real challenges for the poor implementation of the RTE. When RTI is added with RTE, hope many of these challenges will be resolved for the effective implementation of RTE.

In spite of the positive hope, still AWARENESS ON RTI & RTE is on the top priority.

More will be posted on these key tools for the mainstreaming of all the children irrespective of their backgrounds in general and particularly the one with special needs.

Looking forward
